One of my most recent decisions has been to develop a new and marketable skill; becoming a trainer. In keeping with this decision, I have been learning what it means to be a trainer and it has been a pretty intense and rather rigorous offline course so far. I'm going to share a little preamble of my learning experience with you about the concept of training and why it is of great importance to our businesses.
What is Training?
Training is the acquisition of knowledge by an individual employee or group of employees willing to apply the knowledge on their jobs in decision making and in the accomplishment of tasks for the company. It is a provision aimed at creating intentional learning processes to bring about semi-permanent change in an individual's behavior (knowledge, attitudes, skills and habits) with an intentions to enhance performance on the job. The end result of appropriate training is better performance which in turn increases the company's bottom line, positively affecting employees' pay.
Why is Training Essential?
- It is essential because it is a very big and very profitable industry.
- It enhances productivity of individuals.
- It enables development of competencies in line with organizational objectives.
- It allows for proper communication of organizational goals
- It enhances career progression and self development. It is necessary to keep learning in order to remain relevant in this dynamic times
I will share more about the training process shortly however the details above are the bedrock of training and it's importance as a whole.
