DEPRESSION THE FACELESS COMPANION

Depression is the faceless companion that creeps into you when your heart is breaking apart and becomes one with you.

It's quite shy and jealous and would make you lock yourself in the room and stay in bed all day with him, just to cuddle you and fill you with thoughts, cravings and worry.

It feeds you with enough sad music to keep you blue and broken. And you relish in the lyrics and tune, mouthing the words incoherently and venting your emotions as tears burn your face.

Food becomes bitter in your mouth and causes your appetite to flee from you. It's a day and you haven't had anything to eat, it engages your mind with other things, enough to block the passage to your stomach.

You lose focus.

Your interest in things around you starts to wane.

You find comfort in pain and wish you would walk through the doors of your mind and fill it with hope, and love. A balmy presence.

Thoughts of suicide creep in. Will anyone miss you or even notice? Are you still relevant? Do they still love you or care?

You want to shut everyone out yet you just want to be held and loved. And understood.

Have you ever met Depression? Have you?

It lives here, it came knocking, the door was ajar, it strode in and sprawled on the floor like it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
