The wind finally died, so we get to fish tomorrow..... I was outside today sitting in my boat making sure by reels still worked, some didn't, I had to take them apart and oil them, I got them all fixed. I was sitting there talking to my husband when we heard that noise, I hate this noise, it is a flutter sound that does not stop, and sure enough we looked up in the sky and there he was, shute not opening. My husband kept saying "cut it loose and pull your reserve" it never happened he went below the tree line and he was not near the airport, he was either over houses or the St Sebastian River. There is a small airport to the west of our house, it is about 2 miles from us, he came down somewhere north of us. We see them jump all the time and when their shutes open it makes like a popping sound. This is not the first one we have seen not open, but I do hope it is the last, it gives me a sick feeling in my stomach. There were other jumpers coming down and only one stayed and went down with him, the others landed at the airport, we could see the plane circling. They have their own ambulance at the airport, so I am sure the pilot called them. They have showed up in our yard asking permission to go look for their parachutes that they had to cut loose. My husband found one a few years ago, he took it to the airport and they knew who owned it but it had been there to long and was weaken from the sun, they said the guy lost it 3 years before. Several years ago I was at the fish house and the wind changed after they jumped, 2 landed out in the middle of the river and another I watched guide his self and land on a sandbar. Another time 3 of them landed in the cemetery.......... Later in the day we were in the house and my husband says, our kitty cat just walked through our gate, we do not have a cat, I said what?? He says a bobcat just walked in our yard, I looked out there and he was just moseying along and went on his way.

Are there survivors from those non-opening-parachute jumps? It sounds quite scary to me.

@scribblingrama we usually see them cut away their main shute and come down with their reserve, this one we did not see him do that but there was another one coming down with him and since we have not heard anything about it, we are hoping he caught up to the unopened shute and grabbed it or the person. watching it gives me a sick feeling. I always thought it would be a fun thing to do, but I have seen to many of them not open, so I have changed my mind.

Hello...
@myjob
Oh my gosh 😯😟..!!!!!
I really hope there person survived...!!

@annephilbrick the airport likes to keep mishaps quiet but I think if someone got hurt or killed they could not cover it up so I would have heard something.

Sounds to me it happens quiet often the parachutes do not open. There must be a reason for it.
Are the jumpers doing this for fun or is it a military exercise?

Great a Kitty Kat for free

@wakeupkitty they do it for fun, people come from all over the world to jump out of a plane, one of the men that came to our house wanting to go look for his parachute was from Germany, he gave me his card so I could call him if we find it.

For fun breaking your bones :S I assume it is some kind of kick

@wakeupkitty yes they get a kick out of it, they have a new thing they are doing they jump out with a suit that looks like a flying squirrel, no parachute, one guy got killed, not sure what happened but something went wrong.
