More things seen while wandering around in Melville
The area where the bookshop I work in is an old suburb, established in the early 1900s and has been rather trendy since the 1980s. Because the buildings are old, a lot of the styling tends to be retro and some of it is quite well done. A sign outside a popular hipster bar called Lonely Hearts Club

Inside another restaurant called The Ant:
Remember those tacky 70s brown tiles of women with flowing hair that everyone had in their bathrooms?
In case you ever wondered, this is what a giraffe skull looks like. With our macho HuntingFishing'nShooting culture, most households had animal horns or similar trophies around the place back in the day. Trophies are frowned on these days and while I am not a fan of the stuffed trophies, I do like me a good set of horns and I have some skulls out in my backyard.
A few years ago, there used to be a set of pig's ears hanging in the ceiling but perhaps they just got too dusty and got chucked out or perhaps more PC patrons complained. I was rather fond of the pigs ears, but that's just me.
Last but not least: when there's badly moulded concrete in the house, I just have to take pictures of it.
I have no idea what this specimen's claim to fame is but it sits morosely in a corner atop a log.
Because there are some Algerian and Egyptian businessmen around, they introduced their social traditions of smoking hookah pipes on restaurant pavements, a habit that has been enthusiastically embraced here and one corner grocer cum takeaway sells them. I'm not sure about all that orange plastic'nflames, but we all have our own tastes I guess.
Interesting photos!
Melville seems to have a few human vices covered. :-)
