Life is funny and a little bit of more patience, perseverance and some degree of understanding would have let things be.
Imagine Croatia in the final. Who would have thought that? Argentina dropped Icardi who could have helped them a little up front but then i still feel their problem isn't about Icardi, it is about lack of togetherness. Too many individual players trying to stake their claim and earn more name from themselves, and now Icardi should be having a good laugh at them because he was left out due to "politics".
I wish i can say the same for Kalinic. He was told to come in to but he felt he should have started. He kicked against coming in and this angered the coach. He was appealed to by the technical crew to apologize at least but he didn't. He allowed his ego to stand in the way. He told them he had back ache, but i have seen tons of players play amidst pain. You staked everything to be around for this World Cup, so why allow your ego come in now? Who was he trying to bench in the first place? Mandzikic? That guy would always be a starter regardless because he is a good player with vast level of experience. He is not an ordinary player even if i know he is not exceptional.
Why would you give everything and after getting what you want, you mess it up? He put himself in the right frame of mind to be around for this World Cup, and now because he felt he deserved more than 5 minutes of play, he wouldn't come in? This is a team!. I know many are trying to earn a sizeable transfer through this 2018 World Cup but his action afterwards wouldn't do him any favours either.
Imagine if he had been with them!. Maybe they wouldn't have gone this far, and maybe he would have scored some vital goals for them. Who knows? Well, we wouldn't have known now, would we? A moment of ego and anger can ruin a lifetime of history or happiness. He was sent home and it is a big shame. I imagine how terrible he would feel now to see Croatia lift it. It would have been him with them. It would have been their feat. If they still didn't win it, it has been a remarkable achievement still and he would have been more of a hero in his homeland and he would have done his family proud. He lost it all in a moment of anger and ego. He would have apologized but he didn't. At least when Tevez did the same for Manchester City, he apologized at least for the sake of peace. There are some things we need to let down so we can achieve what we have in sight. Most player would give anything up just to be in his shoes, and he found himself in it and he messed it up.
