Bad Company

Bad company they say corrupt good manners, have we ever thought about good company that's willing to be corrupted? This short story will show us a little about how good company could be so willing to be corrupt.An adage goes thus: If the wall isn't cracked, the lizard has no way into it.

Jaye has been a good boy who grew into a responsible teen with a promising future. He has a father who cares and ready to see him through his education, a mother like no other who could sacrifice any part of her body in case of famine. In short he has a family of loving and supportive people, he has all what a young man could ever wish for.

But then a young man could have the best father, an amazing mother and great siblings, he would definitely have some people in his life that are not related to him but are very close. These people are called friends and they come in two categories which are the bad ones who would negatively influence and the good ones that would positively influence.

Jaye could have had the perfect life only if he had the good category of friends, he still could have had the perfect life by choice but then he made the wrong choice of friends. Well like I wrote in the introduction, a lizard has no way into the wall if the wall remains uncracked, Jaye allowed the bad company to influence him willingly.

He started with staying out of school with his friends that are been sent home for owing school fees when his own had been paid right from the beginning of the academic session leading to missing out on test and exams. He graduated to doing drugs while out of school with friends and along that was having unprotected intercourse.

Short story I called it, so this was what happened. He ended up been killed mistaken to be a member of a dreaded cult group which his friends belonged to and that was the end of the bright future, caused pain for his amazing family members and I bet he regretted in his grave.

Words For Thought

Navigate your routes and people you choose. Not every compliment given is actually praises, not every prayer is meant to better you, not every one wishes you well. Be observant as loyalty isn't created by time, betrayal comes mostly from dear ones. Reason wide when it's just you, think wild when it's necessary.
