Can you save money working from home?

I've been reading a lot about Millennials' issues with paying down school & consumer debt while trying to save for the future. Things look pretty dismal.

I wondered if working from home could save people money. At first, it seems like it, because you don't need to have a car and you may be eating out for lunch and buy coffee less. It's not quite that simple though, and really comes down to the agreement you have with your employer, or the wages and sales you make as a freelancer or small business owner.
