You've heard the phrase, did you let go when I needed to hold on?. Well, this phrase has a lot to do with the story of Lucero and her family, she, like every girl since she was a little girl, was looking forward to a special person, maybe they asked her what was she waiting for? Well, to understand let's go back about 10 years, but first let's use the imagination and prepare our hearts for it.

One day April 22, 2005, Lucero perceives how his dreams of finally forming a family under marriage, listen as his parents Bianca and Miguel have a conversation, beyond simple words, because it was nothing more and nothing less that a proposition led to a marital commitment.

—Miguel do you accept Bianca as your wife?

—Yes, I accept— Miguel answers, in the same way Bianca is asked the same question to which she also affirmed accepting him as husband.

And with their answers Bianca and Miguel are two in one flesh symbolically. Already at the reception, we can imagine the colorful and beautiful environment ready to celebrate, and we see Lucero as he is very happy eating chocolate cake with his parents; In the eyes of the guests, this whole family would be happy forever.

And it is partly true, when several months have passed, this fruit is seen. Lucero enjoys an impressive way; that her father takes her to school, that they walk the dog together, read him stories and have spectacular moments together that for a 5-year-old girl are unforgettable.

Normally every day his father would arrive from work early at 7 pm at most two hours later. Lucero used every day from 5 pm, to wait for his father. Her mother was completely happy because she found someone to spend her life with, she felt like a fairy tale and she could still feel those butterflies in her stomach, because having her daughter and husband so close was a blessing.

Unfortunately that happiness was momentary, Miguel began to arrive late sometimes until drunk, or spent a whole day without getting home which made the happy family wither little by little. Lucero every day after school asked for her father whose answer was difficult to give, even so she insisted between tears for the whereabouts of her father. That was the beginning for her beautiful marriage to say goodbye, because by neglecting the relationship and a father who changed his heart and affection to another person, completely destroyed that dream of union.

One night in February 2009, Bianca cries for a devastating news that Lucero does not understand, but his father takes the floor and says:—Goodbye, beloved daughter, I'm sorry you do not understand it now, but when you grow up you'll understand.—The little girl with tears on her face sees her father leave with his suitcase without looking back.

Now everything changes in Lucero's life, he assumes new responsibilities, because the father figure was not there and with only 9 years he studies, works and helps his mother in everything he can, because everything comes to him like an avalanche where his mother and she feels drowned and does not have how to reinvent herself.

Since then things change, and Lucero does not wait at the window anxiously for her father as usual, she is already a teenager and faces the world as many do, to frequent mood swings, to the development and attack of guys at your place of study, it is a beautiful girl with clear eyes, dark and with spectacular body, which does not make it go unnoticed.

Everything that has to work overwhelms her, her social status is not that we say very good and the economy of her country is uncontrolled, making the cost of living very expensive. At 14 years, she had moved about six times and had to adapt to new places, people and rhythm of life. However, despite everything and believe it or not, his father is in his mind like a pain that he can not alleviate, because a call would change his life and give him a lesson.

One morning in May 2018, when Lucero was about to leave, her phone rang and to her surprise it was her father who had not contacted her since his departure.

—Hi, I'm Miguel. I want to talk to Lucero. Is she here?— asks his father after the horn, it was clear that he did not recognize the voice of that little girl he had left, because she was more adult. Lucero felt the desire to hang him.

—I'm sorry I could not be with you, to see you grow and enjoy by your side, I imagine that you have become a beautiful girl, thanks to the good effort of your mother, I was not a good example for you, I lost my anger, joys, sorrows and your successes.

—Why did you call?— Lucero asks

—It's been a long time and I learned to live without you.

To which he responds

—Because I did not value what I had in front, I only saw the mistakes, I let myself be carried away by the bad desire of my heart and that brought me disastrous consequences, I do not know if it is the last time I speak with you, although I know it is ironic because I've talked to you in years and I'm sorry, I wish I could do it by looking at your face.

She was very angry, she felt hurt—yes, of course— she said sarcastically; however, they agree to meet at a bakery later.

That same afternoon Miguel goes to the bakery, but Lucero does not take seriously what his father told him and did not attend the appointment. Miguel I wait and wait but she did not arrive at any time. His father was sad, literally with a broken heart.

—I understand, because of me she allowed bad feelings to lodge in her heart- she thought, because it was the phrase of a well—known favorite song of her you let me go when I needed it most ...

—I did not think maybe he did not come—he mentions to then leave.

Lucero felt that he owed his father an apology and tried to call, while he rang without being able to communicate, he remembered what his mother told him, marriage is a blessing but it becomes a misfortune when it is neglected, your father let our marriage end but still You are your beloved daughter, he must decide how to recover the relationship with you, you must also decide if you forgive him.

Try calling again but the answering machine falls.

—Could it be that he does not want to answer?— Lucero asks herself. At night some policemen arrive knocking at the door of their home.

—Are you the daughter of Miguel Sulbaran?— asks one of the policemen addressing the young woman.

— Are you his wife?— the policeman points to Lucero's mother

—Yes, did something happen to him? — both tell the policeman a little anxious.

—We need you to join us — the officer tells them, to which they agreed to go with them.

The officers take them to the hospital, they are somewhat worried and desperately look for Miguel when they arrive at the site; a white-skinned person in a particular uniform who was the doctor approaches them.

— Are you relatives of the patient?— he asks, to what they affirmed.

—Yes, I am his wife, what does my husband have a doctor?— replies Lucero's mother

—Well, I'm sorry to say that Mr. Miguel is in terminal condition because of a disease that has no cure, we just have to wait to see how he reacts to the medications but he is very weak.

Lucero cries, because she learns that this terminal illness is because her father is infected with HIV AIDS; disconsolate she asks the doctor to see him. When he is in the room, he sees that he really was wrong, as he had never seen him, his situation was lamentable and pitiful. Before Lucero forgave his father, a sound defines their fate, because at midnight the weakened heart of his Miguel stopped forever.

That sad event gave us a lesson, this world does not offer us anything good, we must take advantage of the beautiful we have at our disposal, appreciate it because you do not know when you lose it or life takes it away, do not give pain to your family because the link with children it is worth more than any carnal desire of the heart.
