Social networking (A necessary evil)

Modern youth are crazy about the social networking sites and it is one of the most important tools of entertainment currently. I am from a place where internet services are paused frequently on government instructions whenever there is need in order to maintain law and order and I have seen that youth get frustrated and pelt stones on law and order controlling personnel. This simply describes that youth can't even imagine any entertainment without internet and the internet run social networking websites.

One more important aspect where from we get the evidences of importance and popularity of these social networking websites is by knowing the number of users these websites are having, which is simply mind bubbling. We have got billions of users on these websites. But, have you ever thought for what purpose these websites are all about?

Let me first give you a briefing of social media

The variety of evolving stand-alone and built-in social media services introduces a challenge of definition.The idea that social media are defined by their ability to bring people together has been seen as too broad a definition, as this would suggest that the telegraph and telephone were also social media – not the technologies scholars are intending to describe.The terminology is unclear, with some referring to social media as social networks.

Wikipedia defines social network as

A social network is a platform, an online service or a website designed to build, reflect, and organize social relationships.

To coop up with the emerging needs of users and to combat with changing demands social media is evolving and developing with time. To survive in the market these social media websites must need to fulfill these demands and needs.

There has been a large number of social networking websites and we are seeing the number is getting increased on daily basis. But we don't know the names of all as all of these haven't been successful in fulfilling the needs of people and hence many of them are now dead.

Only a few out of the enormous number of social networking sites have achieved success and are still surviving in the market. Some of the important ones are Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, MySpace etc as these have remained beneficial to we people throughout and have also evolved with time and are still in race and are going great.

One thing which is just amazing about these social networking platforms is that we use these networks free of cost and we don't need to pay a penny for the services they provide. But still they earn hefty loads of money, have you ever thought about it from where does this money come?

This is plain and simple!
Let's take Facebook as an example. There are a number of companies which use Facebook as a medium to advertise their products and that is where the revenue comes from, though you don't pay a penny for them but they still earn loads. You will be amazed after knowing how these social networks use use valuable data for their dirty intentions of earning money.

Because of lack of privacy in the centralized social networks all of your data is being used and sold to the advertisers as they have access to your content and take out the information which they need, if you want to stop these happenings unfortunately you won't, as you agree to some terms and conditions at the aage when you sign up on these sites.

No matter now you knowingly or unknowingly you obey to their terms and conditions, as they earn huge amounts of money from your data don't you think you must be entitled to a part of the profit?

Yes yo did, but does you get a penny from these websites? The answer is s big no ooooooo. They aren't willing to pay you for your valuable data they are not even interested in it either they hardly care and bother about it.
