Appreciation In All Things

in #life5 years ago

I remember something that happened a few months ago, I did a particular favour to someone. After saying "thank you", the next week, the person called and still told me "thanks for last week". Mehn! I felt so pleased, I immediately sought out another favour to do again because of that singular act. It wasn't planned but it flowed from my subconsciuos mind. This is to tell y'all that appreciation carries more benefits than you can imagine.

Sometimes, when someone does something for you and you say thank you, they may reply with "don't mention", but literally, it means "you can mention it". Trust me, not showing appreciation for an initial favour may hinder the subsequent favours.

Let me ask you this: how will you feel when you go extra mile for someone and at the end of the day, they will not be appreciative and even think it is their entitlement to receive the favour? Trust me, your morale will be dampened by such actions. Some will even focus on the little you did not do but forgetting the tons you have done.

Some people may not realize this but the truth is; when you show appreciation to someone for anything, you have already rendered an application for bigger things.

I will be sincere with you, you are nowhere near being entitled to receive anything you have received, so you need to remove the mentality of entitlement. The mentality of entitlement robs people of the need to show appreciation and has closed the door of some to future favours. No one (not even life itself) owes you a damn thing, it is purely a privilege, so be appreciative of even little things.

Trust me, the power of a heart-borne "thank you" is unimaginable. Many people have gotten to where their labour cannot get to because they learnt to be appreciative for anything (no matter how little).

Saying "thank you" does not remove your breath from you nostrils, so why can't you be benevolent with it? Always remember this: bowing down to say "thank you" does not make your height to reduce.

Thanks for reading

Peace on y'all
