Be Contented

Sometimes we could be too carried away in the thoughts of what we want to have or acquire, but we could be quick to forget what we have that others are praying to have a feeling of. And this has blinded the eyes of many and their sense of judgement would have been beclouded from seeing the goodness in life. Have you ever for once taken a pause to reflect on what you have right now that you never asked for or worked for?

Can I remind you this? What you have (and you may even feel tired of, or thinking you've gone passed that level) is someone's earnest desire out there; so we should learn to be contented with what we have.

A story was told of a master that called his servant and asked him; "what would I give you now to make you very happy?" The servant quickly said 20,000NGN, and at that instance, the master dipped his hand into his bag and handed him over the money. Just as the master left, the servant told his fellow servant there; "mehn, I would have asked for 40,000NGN or more". Imagine the height of discontentment; and he forgot he never worked for the 20,000NGN nor did he even expect it.

This scenario happens quite a lot in our everyday lives - from our offices, to our homes, to the market (in this part of the world, after buying and paying for stuffs, you would still ask for discount, and even when they've gotten the discount, some would still ask for "jara", lol). If this isn't discontentment, I wonder what it is.

You should learn to feel satisfied with what you have and that will make you enjoy life to the fullest. Don't expect much from "life", because if you do, you cannot but be disappointed - hope you know that the "fairness" in life is so blurred?

Be grateful of where you are now, and also from where you moved out from, then you would be qualified to move to the next phase of life.
