How to teach alphabet letters to children so that they are easy to memorize and understand?
Teaching alphabet to children can be an easy task if you use certain aids.
They can be
- colorful letters made of plastic, like toys
- toy alphabet and spell machine which looks like a colorful slate and can be held easily by a child. The child can press letters and also spell words and there are sounds to accompany it which makes it all the more interesting
- color cards can be home made. One can also make the child help so that they get to draw the letters
- reading a story to the child daily and pointing out the letter
- last but not the least, making the child write the alphabet on a note book
Teaching a child can be done early. Children catch up easily and will be able to grasp quickly unless there are other problems.
I used to read aloud stories to my son when he was small and also showed him the letters. I also made him write the letters and made him read small words. Soon, he was able to read and spell words with ease. The only thing is that, we elders should be consistent about it and the children will be able to pick up soon.
Buying a small board and hanging it on the wall will help the child to practice writing and drawing.
Buying drawing books to color is also good, especially if it has letters to color.
