The summer days

She looked up at the sky. The clouds did not indicate any sign of rain. The heat was becoming unbearable and the plants were in need of water.

The well had dried up long ago. She hoped that the water from the pond nearby would suffice for the neighbourhood. Even the frogs seemed to have migrated but migratory birds and cranes seemed to enjoy the climate. There were lots of insects and bees and the birds and lizards relished the delicacies.

Last night had been a terror because a small insect had gone into her ear and it took a while for her to not lose her cool. She poured oil into her ear and also smeared a little Vicks too. Such incidents happened every year, so the guests who were familiar used to cover their ears when they visited the house.
