I just read and resteemed and amazing post written by @bayrene about the importance of teaching children the value of money.

This case with the five year old however, shows the madness of statism and how it tries to kill all that. This five year old probably got scarred for life. Imagine the pride she must have felt. She created something. She made lemonade. She put up the stand. People got engaged and reacted positive to her iniative. Then BLAM! You're a criminal!

" According to Spicer, four local council enforcement officers approached the girl, turned on their body cameras, then launched into a “legalistic script” explaining that she'd broken the law"

I mean. Seriously? They approached the little girl and probably scared her. Imagine the humiliation. Now, this is how the state works. It doesn't want people to be happy and free. It want people to be scared little statists who can empty the pockets of those who have the willpower and courage to live by their own standards.

I truly hope this little girl hasn't been scarred for life, and that she continues to value initative and making money. Too few kids have that entrepreneurial mindset these days. They're either ashamed of doing actual work, or they're just spoiled.

Sort:

I read about this the other day on the bbc. Utterly ridiculous. Apparently though their bosses made a statement that what they did was wrong, that they were expected to apply some common sense to the rules of street trading (i.e. leave a 5 year old with an innocent lemonade stand alone), but they didn't.

The child did get an apology in the end, but i think you are right, the poor girl is probably scarred by this incident.

A prime example of the state run amuck. With out big brother, who would protect us from roadside lemonade stands and voluntary exchanges between people?

That's extremely shitty, but it goes to show that the state will rain on anyone's parade when it feels like. I hope the parents have the sense to explain to their child that what the cops did was wrong. It'd be horrible if the lesson that child took out of this was, "You can't do anything without State permission, so I'll just work a crappy State job instead of being an innovative entrepreneur."

Let's hope so. Unfortunately the "you can't do anything without state permission" is the mindset most people have. And that's because of parents, teachers and media.

Yeah, the constant reinforcement of that mentality is extremely unfortunate. It depresses me to think of how many people could've gone on to do pretty great things, if it weren't for the State and all of its advocates shutting them down.

I read the same post from @bayrene it is legit fine 200 $ for children who is running a business withour papers ahhaa

Well, I don't see the same treatment for the migrant illegal vendors that "work" in cities around Europe. The State just pretends they never see them.

Yes. That would be racist to expect the same standards from immigrants as the original population. Remember, the biggest racists are the far left, those who don't expect anything from people browner than themselves.

It's just anything. You are quite right.

Where happened this?

If I were the police I would just warn the girl, not because I think she was doing anything wrong but because maybe other officers would be more worried about filling up his fine quote than acting fairly.

Brittian. Yeah, A police officer should warn the girl against the idiotic rules and then give her a break. Carry on!
