Pushing Back The Tears

She stood gazing into the mirror, watching the tears stream down her cheeks, but these tears she was in no hurry to wipe away. These tears were her reward, finally, some of those tears of pain and sadness were being washed away with these tears of joy.

Yet even as she gazed into the mirror, images began to form in her head, of years gone by and were a reminder of a life she wished she could forget, but knew even with the passing of time, they would remain and scar her soul forever.

Then shaking her head to clear the images, and grabbing a tissue, she wiped those tears and began the process of applying makeup. Today was all about not only looking beautiful, but feeling it as well.

She was getting married today, and with that thought, smiled and began once again to finish applying the makeup. Determination told her she was going to be happy, and happy she would be.

It had been a rough start, but as the days past, thinks began to get better, most of those hardships, problems and worries had been within her, and realizing this was the start of things getting better.

Now standing, scrutinizing the image looking back at her from the mirror, thoughts going back to where it had all begun, and how she arrived here where she was, this was to be a new beginning...
