DOES CRYING DEPICT WEAKNESS?

We go about daily issues of life with so much hope and strength but unfortunately, there are just some days that don't turn out too good. Be it financially, emotionally, academically and any other "ally". Lol. These days are just bound to come because they are part of life and we are meant to learn from them and get over them in the best way we can. How we get over these life challenges tells a lot about who we truly are and this brings me to the question I'll like to pose this evening. "Does crying depict weakness?"

Some people are of the belief that crying is meant for the weak while some people think otherwise. They feel crying makes you even stronger because you are setting yourself free from negative emotions through shedding of tears. Well, I'll like to hear your thoughts on this.

Tears / crying is an expression of the human feelings and emotions when overwhelmed with a sensation of pain, sorrow or even great moments of joy. Apart from the fact that tears actually helps in cleaning the eyes, research also has it that tears could actually be a way of flushing out negative chemicals (manganese) out of the body.

In my own opinion, I think crying is actually helpful in making you feel a whole lot better emotionally. Like, have you ever tried crying under a shower when you feel you've had it up to the peak? mehn, that stuff can be so relaxing and I even think it's a whole lot better than discussing with people who might probably make your challenges more compound through their advice.

Haven said that, I'll like to also remind us that; too much of everything is bad. As much as crying and letting out your emotions can be helpful sometimes, too much of the habit is bad and that's when it actually paints such person as a weak person. Although, there are some medical conditions that causes a person to cry uncontrollably; in this case, such person would need some medical attention.

In conclusion, everyone knows how best he or she lets out his or her emotions when hurt or angry. This post is just an avenue to reach out to those of us that have been bottling so much emotions up and trying to act like Hulk Hogan and Vandam who are generally seen as super strong people. Hellooo, It's ok to cry.  Just let it all out.

You have said it all. For me, crying is for the strong, those who are able and strong enough to let out their emotions. Those who bottle up things in the name of been strong should beware of ailments.

Exactly. There's actually no point bottling up emotions and acting all strong when one could actually let it out and feel better.

Crying does not depict weakness, IMO. Yes it's ok to cry, @smile-for-tee. When one is passing through pain intense pain and sorrow, it's better to cry than bottle up those negatively emotions. Usually, I don't cry in times of joy in times of joy, but get emotional and sometimes cry when unhappy. I'm am interested to get the reference to your statement that

tears could actually be a way of flushing out negative chemicals (manganese) out of the body.

Thank you for writing this blog. Cheers.

@maryfavour & @redfishpillar.

Thanks for your input ma. Some people actually see the ability to withhold tears as a characteristic of being strong which is totally wrong. That's the link to my statement. http://oddrandomthoughts.com/what-causes-tears-and-what-are-the-effect-of-crying/
