Back to Life

With the children's holiday break entering it's last day, I am moved to reflect on the 2 weeks they spent at home. They're noisy, and messy, and eat a lot. They're grumpy, especially in the morning, and eat a LOT. Also, they eat A LOT!! My sons are 11 and 15, but they will always be my babies.

We missed dinner on Christmas Day thanks to car issues. My in-laws delivered the children's gifts and stacks of leftovers to us so we felt a bit more involved with the holiday. New Year's Day was spent with my youngest regretting his decision to stay awake to watch the live steam from New York's Times Square. January 2 was my birthday, a day that was again foiled by car trouble.

That leads to today, with me being in need of shopping, and with a dead Kindle (charging port of battery, but it shut off and won't come back on, no matter what I do). In other words, 2019 begin the way 2018 ended, and I'm having a difficult time distinguishing between the two.

What I'm saying is: find some small joy each day, and file that feeling away for when you need it the most.

Happy New Year and stuff.
