Organising a Kid’s Birthday Party Is Not Easy

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been busy organising Baby M’s birthday party even though I had everything booked 2 weeks ago at a play centre. The food will be pre-ordered so I don’t have to worry about anything and the plan was to just dress up and go and the day. But in reality, it is a lot more work than just showing up to the venue.

First I had to gather all the names of the kids attending which isn’t a hard task but finding time for that is a challenge itself. Then ordering the food can also be challenging due to dietary requirements and also you don’t want to order too much or too little. The food platter choices are also pretty extensive so I have to pick what I think would be suitable for the group we have. We have around 20 kids plus the parents so I need to estimate it pretty well to not waste anything or order too little.

I also decided to ditch the invitation and send all the parents a facebook invite which solved everything quickly. I knew what cake I was going to get but didn’t think it was going to be so expensive for a small cake. $59 for a cake! The cake I’ve ordered is just an ordinary cake with the rainbow colours inside …. why does it cost $59?!?!?! I hope it tastes as good as what it looks.

Now to the most fun part of a kids party! The party loot bags. Most of the bags we’ve received from previous parties are filled with lollies and chocolates. I have decided no sweets in our loot bags this year with a savoury snack instead. Of course, there will be plenty of toys for all the kids. I hope I’m not hated because there is no sugar in sight. Let’s see what I have prepared for the kids next week.

Lots of hot wheel cars, some plastic watches, water guns (everyone loves them!), some bubbles for babies and a packet of rice crackers each. Don’t you think kids now days are really lucky? Get to play a full day, eat some yummy food and cake and take goodies back home. I wish I was a kid again LOL!
