A Blessed Person 有福的人

“A young idler, an old beggar.” I learnt a similar Chinese saying when I was young, which is, “If one doesn’t work hard when young, one will regret in old age.” (少年不努力，老大徒悲伤!)

We are living in a world with higher standard of living than before, and what we have is different from what the previous generations had. There are still people who are willing to learn and work hard today. However, there are also those who refuse to labour but rather to live a loose life. They desire enjoyment without hard work. If such mentality becomes a trend, the people of the world will suffer only a matter of time.

Certainly, working hard is not only for the sake of freeing oneself from poverty. Indeed, there are those who have inherited much from their parents, and they can live for many years without working. Nevertheless, we need to work hard because of a higher purpose. The higher purpose is to be a blessing for many people. If any time we are given resource, it is not only for our consumption, but it is also meant for our contribution for the people who are still living in poverty. As the Bible said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

有福的人

“一个無所事事的年輕人将会在年老时作乞丐!” 我年幼时就聽取了来自中国人的类似说法，“少年不努力，老大徒悲伤!”

今天的世界具有比过去高的生活水平，我们也过着与前人不同的生活。如今有些人愿意不断学习和努力工作，然而，也有人拒绝劳动，而是过着松散的生活，他们渴望享受而不要努力工作。如果这种心态成为一种趋势，世人遅早就会受苦。

当然，今天努力工作不应只是为了摆脱贫困。事实上，有些人从父母那里继承了很多産业，他们可以在不必工作的情况下生活很多年。然而，我们努力工作是基于更高的目标。这个目标即是要成为许多人的祝福。如果我们拥有资源，这不仅是为了我们的消费，也是要我们关注那些仍然生活在贫困中的人。正如圣经的记载：「施比受更为有福。」
