Border Adventure

I have stayed

Away these last few weeks because I have become a dad. This new experience has been an adventure that has led me to understand why my mother used to tell me certain things like "Love for your children has no limits" or "When you have a child you have all the children in the world".

When it's just you

You can let the problems reach you but when you have a child you are in the obligation to solve them. You don't know it but I live in Venezuela, a country with many political problems that have led us to suffer shortages of food and medicine. This situation brought me and my wife a series of challenges like finding a way to vaccinate the baby since it is practically impossible to get vaccines in the country.

So we decided to go on the adventure

we heard a rumor that in neighboring Colombia they were vaccinating Venezuelan children for free. So we set out on a 12-hour road trip across the border. The trip is quite heavy and on the way, there are additional problems such as the lack of fuel and insecurity on the roads, in fact, we found two motorists who pretended to have an accident just to stop people and steal from them, fortunately, we realized just in time. When we arrived at the border we noticed that there was a huge line of people trying to cross over to the other side in search of a better future. We spent over two hours queuing up so we could stamp our passports and cross over.

The effort was worth it

As soon as we crossed the border we could see what for us was the Holy Grail, a small blue tent with a line of about 35 people waiting to vaccinate their babies for free. I could never be grateful enough to the Colombian government for this humanitarian gesture.

Congratulations on the new baby, a precious joy that you should cherish every moment that you spend with him/her. They grow up so fast, that in a little while you will be asking where did the time go? I am very sorry to hear about what is happening in your country, especially that there are shortages of vaccinations for little babies like that, something that we take for granted here, it's unheard of. But thank God you got to Colombia in time to get the baby vaccinated. This is truly an inspirational post and thanks for this, just know that you, your wife and child are truly blessed!

Thanks for reading the whole story :)

It was my pleasure :)

Congratulations!!! Great to see a father like you. Your kid and your wife both are lucky to have you. Stay blessed!

Interesting service

It was worth the border adventure, whatever is necessary for the health of a child. Your baby needs to be vaccinated and you did it.
It's a pity that we have to resort to those extreme measures, to have our little ones healthy.

Interesting information. No one can imagine what we Venezuelans go through. Thanks to the brother country for the help given, and may this post be useful for all the people who need a helping hand.
Congratulations!
