What kind of visa? Working? Studying? Tourism?
Tourist for a few weeks to see the wall and experience a little bit of China...
For most countries I think it is pretty easy. You just need to get the visa in advance from the Chinese embassy/consulate in your country. Once they issue a visa to you, you can visit for 5 years usually (but have to leave every 90 days).
