The years have ticked by,
In the blink of an eye,
Sad moments,
And happiness have passed by.

People I cherish,
Have come, and gone,
But the world never ceased,
Not for a sec.

Life wasn't trouble-free,
The contention was there,
Filled with times that it's significant,
Times I just never paid attention to.

I was independent - stood on my own,
And I still paved my way,
Through long nights filled with sobbing,
And the beginning of new days.

And now with grey hair,
It becomes bleak,
Things I once found indispensable,
Weren't the reason I was here.

How much I dispensed,
Of my heart and emotions,
Would definitely be,
What makes me unique.

I'm the best version of me,
Whether it's largely acceptable,
It's my opinion of me,
And that's what is really important.
