You can often recognize people from a great distance with a lot of self-confidence . But there are also people who have a little more difficulty with this. Probably self-confidence is something that you yourself have difficulty with, otherwise you were not reading this article.

Rest assured, you are not alone: many people are troubled by this, not being sure of yourself, as a result of which you can hardly present yourself and therefore have problems in your work, your social life and your relationship .

You can, of course, submit all sorts of reasons that can explain your lack of confidence: hereditary factors, your relationship with your parents or with your children, your appearance, financial problems, your living environment, your work, your boss ... you name it.

These are all excuses that you can easily hide behind, but they continue to apologize!

No reasons not to work on your self-confidence. By working on your self-confidence will eventually make the difference between being accepted in an application, or being rejected for the umpteenth time!

Just a recognizable example: You've probably been at a party where you can talk nicely until many people suddenly turn their heads and stop talking. You also look, and see someone coming in who does not look particularly attractive, or is very very dressed.

Not a very exciting appearance. Yet the incoming person stimulates the attention of everyone and the people walk up to talk and get to know them. [pull-ratio] The person in question has charisma, charisma and radiates self-confidence. [/ pullquote] Not exaggerated but in a natural way.

There is someone who has a lot of confidence and that radiates through his / her attitude, his eyes and the way the person walks. Perhaps a recognizable situation in which you might have thought jealous how the person has achieved that.

Let's face it: The process of gaining more self-confidence starts with yourself. Your inner self must be in order, you must feel good and you must accept who you are.

Accept all your weaknesses, but also accentuate your strengths. This can be a long process, but ultimately with a very high reward.

I do not pretend that I am offering you a complete solution in this article. As mentioned, building self-confidence is a long process that you have to work hard for. But the tips that I will wear later on will help you on the right track.

Self-confidence: Start at the beginning
Grab pen and paper, and write down your strengths and weaknesses. Be honest with yourself! Maybe it's better to make a list yourself, but also to have a list made by a good friend. Compare and discuss this and make a definitive list for this.

Check all your strengths, and note how you can use these points to your advantage. You examine each weakness piece by piece and divide it into points that you can not change, or very difficult, and in points that you can work on to create strong points. Strengths that you can use to your advantage.

I can not emphasize it often enough: This part of the process is certainly the most important thing. It is the process of getting to know yourself and accepting who you are. This acceptance is 50% of your self-confidence!

Self-confidence: Your attitude says a lot about you
Your body posture is one of the first things that everyone will notice. Take a very critical look at the mirror yourself. Even stronger, stand naked in front of the mirror, so that clothing that falls freely does not hide anything. Look critically at yourself: Is your back straight? Are your shoulders hanging down sadly?

What is the position of your head?

Experiment with this, where you may just exaggerate in front of the mirror. The basis: Straight back, shoulders a little backwards and your head a little up. Well done! That's a lot better! Do not overdo your attitude: it must have a natural look.

Practice this every day in front of the mirror and pay attention to this posture in the coming weeks as you walk down the street. You will see that after a few weeks, the attitude changes in a natural way, without having to think about it.

Self-confidence: Make eye contact
If you are talking to someone, make regular eye contact. Do not overdo it, because that can be very intimidating. A good guideline is to look into someone else's eyes just long enough to discover what color they have.

If you do not know the color after a call, you have not made enough eye contact. Making eye contact radiates self-confidence and you should at least use it when you introduce yourself or greet someone. Even if you toast with someone, it is important to make eye contact.

Self-confidence: Speak mastered and remember names!
Speak clearly, mastered and articulate well. By speaking in a controlled manner, your voice naturally continues to sound. The moment you speak very fast, the sound of your voice goes up, and you do not really want that.

Are you also so bad at remembering names? There is a very effective exercise for this: At the moment someone mentions his or her name, repeat this by saying: "Ah! So you are (name) "or ask how you spell the name.

This way you can remember the combination name and face better. If you remember the name the next time, and that person actually speaks to that name, it shows self-confidence! People feel caressed and will appreciate this very much.

Self-confidence: A healthy mind lives in a healthy body
man with self-confidence Take good care of your body. And by this I mean not only hygiene, but especially keep your body in shape by exercising and eating healthy. By exercising you get more muscle mass so you will look better, and you also get more stamina.

By exercising you also sweat, so your waste products are drained from your body.
Also by healthy (er) to eat (vegetables and fruit) makes your body stronger because you make all building materials available. Especially anti-oxidants are important to keep your body healthy.

So regular training and better food provide a better feeling about yourself. In fact, in the long term you will also feel more attractive, so it's great for your confidence.

Self-confidence: The clothing makes the man / woman
If you are well dressed to a party or a job application, this will certainly increase your confidence. But well-dressed does not mean that you should always appear in a three-piece suit. Dressed well means to wear the clothing that suits you , tailored to the occasion. Buy rather less clothes, but good quality clothing.

The quality of your clothing is also an important part of your appearance!

Self-confidence: Do not hide
Of course it is very easy and comfortable to hide in a corner during a party. Safe with your back against the wall, with a good overview so that you will never be surprised by an unexpected acquaintance or a question. Find the free space where people can see you. These will therefore be more inclined to talk to you, where you usually do not even have to take the initiative.

Self-confidence: Work on your general development
You really do not have to become a walking encyclopedia, but a little general development is nice. Deepen yourself a little more in certain topics that interest you. This way you have something to tell at a party, something that interests others and therefore listen to you and appreciate your opinion.

Show that you have knowledge, but do not exaggerate this by being arrogant or lofty.

Self-confidence: Be friendly and keep smiling
Always be kind to others and smile! Smiles on the street, at work, at a party ... it does not matter. You will see that people approach you in a very different way, because you thereby exude a lot of openness. It speaks of self-confidence and looks much friendlier. Let's face it: If everyone in the Netherlands smiles more to the other, everything would look much happier! You will see that other people are also smiling at you, and are going to be much more open.

Self-confidence: Take your moments to relax
Do not stay in the rhythm of stress , even if you are still so busy, or do you still have so many problems. Take the time for yourself to relax by, for example, exercising. Emptying your mind also means making room for new ideas and solutions to problems.

And now? ... getting started!
We are shaped by an innate character and our life experience. Both positive and negative experiences make us who we are. This has a big influence on our self-confidence. Look critically at yourself and start putting things to your hand. Get started with yourself, and grow more confident. And more self-confidence means that you will have more success in all kinds of areas.
