LEARNING TO GIVE

What is he thinking. Is he thinking of all the Goats and Cows and Diapers and care packages that are being bought today from vending machines?

This is the son of a long time friend Davis who started a company of his own that gives to those in need. Called COTOPAXI

In fact I had a lot of friends there (like april and davey) mostly youtubers and bloggers invited to launch the SLC machines. (p.s. there are other locations)

LIGHT THE WORLD

This describes a bit of the feel of this seasonal campaign.

This marks the 5th year in a row i've helped the #lighttheworld campaign once again for about the 5th year in a row? Ever since helping take pictures for this video. First year it was called #sharethegift

The light the world for 5 years has been finding ways to inspire people to be giving and kind and put their teachings into action during the Christmas season. Basically bringing light to the world both spiritual but perhaps in particular GIVING materially since that is a theme of Christmas.

THE GIVING MACHINE

Looks like they have 5 locations for the machines this year.

The Church of Jesus Christ covers the costs and ALL procedes go to the charities and projects that the user decides on.

In practice seems like the gift of a GOAT to someone who's life that can change was perhaps the most popular one... because who doesn't want to say they bought a goat? (And not have to take care of it)

Like my friend and youtuber Josh Dyches I also bought a very expensive and nicely chilled bottle of water. Which you could buy for $2/5/10/25

In any case it's great to be a part of this campaign each year. I like using my skills to promote something i believe in. Perhaps it's even easier than money or time. But I perhaps should do more of both those things as well.

And of course i like going because I get so see a lot of my Youtube Friends. Next year I'll make sure that the project and more charities are on STEEM (steempeak) and using beneficiaries so the steem community can also play a part. That's a little of my committment. I think there is a huge benefit for charities on Steem.

Sort:

Hang on...so the giving machine is a vending machine that lets you buy normal goods for a higher-priced donation which then goes to fund charities? That sounds awesome! How do I get one near me?

Well the only one that gives you a product is the water one... the rest is literally buying stuff that only people in need get. But yes it's pretty awesome and they should be everywhere.

Perhaps a Better solution to world problems than government intervention

It's an interesting idea. I bet it would work well in schools and fitness centers. People like to buy things, and they'd feel good knowing they are helping others. It's a double win.
