Linux based platforms, they're fun and you can learn at your own pace. Or just fun!

Linux was first released as an open source software in 1990. Since then, it can be said that it is getting ready to make it's jump into the mainstream. Open Source means they're free to download and use with no time restrictions!

For a newcomer, like me, it's a very exciting OS because all the possibilities it offers. And the options to customize the OS.

Linux comes in many flavors, or operating systems which are called Distros.

Apart from having endless Distros to choose from, it can run on a USB. You stick the USB in, and there you have it, a new Operating System!

It can run very smooth and fast in old and new computers alike, now you can use that old PC that you have stacked in your closet! If you are into programming (or just writing command lines) or just like to geek out and nerd out this might be for you!

It can be like learning how to use the syntax in the Markdown Styling Guide right here in Steemit! Instantly and extremely rewarding!

You can get to choose how much time you spend learning to use the new Distro, and how much time you learn to use it via code using a Terminal similar to the ones found in Macs and Windows.

Some Distros are already configured from the start so apart from some basic adjustments you're ready to go.

Many code lines are already available for you to copy and paste with an easy Google Search. Plus there are tons of forums and chats and boards where to post your questions or make new friends!

Linux Distros are variations Based on the Linux OS. LTS stands for Long Term Support

Other well known distros are Fedora, Kubuntu and Ubuntu GamePack. Worth checking them all out!
