  Se quedó mudo al leer las noticias en el diario local. Su mirada se volvió penetrante mientras lentamente paseaba sus ojos sobre las imágenes del suceso. Pocas cosas solían impresionarlo, pero esta vez se trataban de acontecimientos que lo dejaban pasmado.

Arrojó el diario en el bote de la basura como un gesto de rechazo ante lo que se le imputaba. Se colocó su sombrero negro y las gafas oscuras, y cruzó la calle en dirección a su hotel con las manos guardadas en los bolsillos de su chaqueta.

Avanzó apenas unos metros cuando logró ver a una de las chicas del grupo. Entraba en un bar cercano, y la siguió para hablar con ella.

Al entrar al bar, le pareció ver que la mujer disimulaba no conocerlo. Se sentó justo a su lado y pidió solo un vaso de agua. La miró fijamente sin decirle palabra alguna, esperaba una respuesta de parte de ella, pero ella no se inmutó ante su desafío. Entendió entonces que no tenía sentido seguirle la jugada.

Buscó en su billetera una tarjeta con un símbolo extraño. Lo deslizó hacia la mujer y esta comenzó a temblar al verlo. Él se levantó para irse, y ella, trató de sujetarlo por un brazo.

Se la quitó de encima mientras miraba su rostro trémulo y le dijo secamente: —Midan sus palabras la próxima vez.

La mujer se quedó espantada sujetando la tarjeta que le había dejado. Sabía muy bien lo que significaba y las consecuencias que se le avecinaban. El hombre salió del bar y esta vez no iría a su hotel, su destino sería muy diferente.

Detuvo un taxi en la esquina y se subió con una sola idea en mente. Ante la pregunta del conductor respondió decidido: —A la calle 228 entre Vargas y Useche.

Las cosas serían muy diferentes a partir de entonces…

He was speechless when he read the news in the local paper. His gaze became penetrating as he slowly wandered his eyes over the images of the event. Few things used to impress him, but this time they were events that stunned him.

He threw the diary in the garbage can as a gesture of rejection of what was imputed to him. He put on his black hat and dark glasses, and crossed the street in the direction of his hotel with his hands in the pockets of his jacket.

He walked only a few meters when he managed to see one of the girls in the group. He entered a nearby bar, and followed her to talk to her.

As he entered the bar, he seemed to see that the woman was pretending not to know him. He sat right next to her and asked for only a glass of water. He stared at her without saying a word, waiting for an answer from her, but she did not flinch at his challenge. He understood then that there was no point in following her play.

She looked in her wallet for a card with a strange symbol. He slid it towards the woman and she began to tremble at the sight of it. He got up to leave, and she tried to hold him by one arm.

He took her off as he looked at her trembling face and said dryly: -Measure his words next time.

The woman was shocked, holding the card he had left her. She knew very well what it meant and the consequences ahead of her. The man left the bar and this time he wouldn't go to his hotel, his destination would be very different.

He stopped a taxi in the corner and got in with only one idea in mind. To the question of the driver he answered decidedly: -To the street 228 between Vargas and Useche.

Things would be very different from then on...
