Longexposurephotography - Thunder and Lightning

I live on a hill above Linz and have a wonderfull view over the city at night. One day two years ago i witnessed a nice Thunderstorm with several lightning strikes above the city. I took my tripod opened the window and did some longexposure shots of the lightning striking above Linz. I tried several shots and did several 10 second exposures all the time. I deleted most of the pictures because i didn't catch a lightning strike on every picture, but on some pictures i really caught the light from the sky. And because of the long exposure i also cought several lightnings on one picture from time to time.

I like it when the lightning strikes hit the ground like on the first picture, but in most of the cases i saw the lightning just unloading in the sky and the clouds. This looks also beautiful but is not as spectacular as when the strikes hit the ground.
