A sweet Gift from my youngest Friend

in #love4 years ago

It feels very nice and gratifying when someone gives you something very personal. You feel special. You know, you are being loved and cared by that person to the fullest.

So this comes from a very young friend of mine who is just my son's age i.e. 23. It has been 8 years knowing him, since he was in college. He always had a challenge in expressing himself to his parents, so he would talk to me about all his matters. His name is Aasim. Whether it was related to studies, his girl friend issues, his career or anything in general, he would turn to me. He was not much interested in studies and wanted to get in to film editing. He was very confused at that stage to make choices. We used to have long conversations around how to go about with his passion and not also ignoring to have the basic requirements qualification wise so that would keep him in a safe place incase in future if he wants to shift his profession.

He had a very strict father and his father wanted him to do engineering, so typical of a parent. So we had to tactfully deal with his father to make him understand that it was ok to give Aasim an opportunity to pursue his ambitions. Thankfully his father agreed and he got going pursuing his passion after his graduation.

The boy has now shifted to Australia and following his dreams,I am so happy that he is doing very well and that my mentoring did help him set the pace that was needed.

I feel overwhelmed when I received this from him. It is such a sweet gesture, a gift to cherish for lifetime.

At times we parents get very strict and want to be the best parents for our children but in the bargain we forget to become their friends and companion. I believe that every parent should leave a room for their kids to be comfortable enough to talk to them.

A bonding of a parent and child is not always authoritative in nature, it's more about understanding and love. As parents we need to evolve as our children grow up, we also need to reduce that so called generation gap and work with them. When their small the relation is different but as they grow up, they look upto us for a lot of things, they want to see a friend, parent, counsellor in us. If we can be that nothing like it.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
