The yawn - day 32 of the Steemit school 100 day poetry challenge

in #love6 years ago (edited)

By the time I finish the 100 days of poetry, I think I would have covered a lot of topics ☺

The Yawn

a cold breeze
tired from a day's work
a book to read
letters swimming before the eyes

a yawn appears slowly
and it spreads across the room
the pillow seems inviting
and the bed holds you close

eyelids droop
nothing seems clear anymore
sleep is more important
and the eyes close

sleep like the blissful baby
it is indeed a good tonic that revives you so

entry for Announcing the Steemit School Poetry 100 Day Challenge! (Total Prize Fund 2000 SBD)

I write poems to express myself. I started writing at the age of twelve or so and some of my poems were published in magazines for children, a time when print still ruled the world. The internet and the blogging world has helped me write poems. Most of it was as I wrote earlier, to express myself and my thoughts. I have also been a ghostwriter.
Steemit has helped me write with freedom and also earned me very good friends who encourage me to write. I hope my readers will support me and also join in this contest. I am not a student of literature and so I do not consider myself an expert in poetry. It is the judge who will decide.

just for the record - if you read this poem, please tell me, did you yawn after seeing the picture? Wanted to know if the yawn was contagious

I didn't yawn, but I did enjoy the poem, and share your adoration for sleep, the divine panacea. Then again, it is not too late here yet, so maybe if I found it nearer to bedtime I would yawn!

Nice poem.
