Another day's work in the flower garden

I work part-time as a gardener taking care of my relative's estate. The property is 3 city lots all completely filled with garden. Weldon, who made the garden throughout most of his life, passed away over the winter at the age of 97. His wife Barbara still lives in their home at 100 years old. My cousin and I take care of things around the garden and provide in-home support for her (she is his grandmother).

Weldon was a veteran of WWII and after he retired from the military, he took up gardening. He opened a flower shop that is still running today, though under a different owner. He loved to find rare plants to put in his garden and even created a few of his own varieties of flowers. One of the first metasequoia to be planted in the area was this one pictured above. Must have been planted during the 1960s and a few others have been rooted from this one since.

My main job is to keep the place looking nice, weeding the flowerbeds, edging the pathways, etc. but I also spend a lot of time taking photos of all the beautiful flowers that are around. It's amazing how well the garden was planned out so that there would always be something in bloom. We are in a low spot right now, but the next wave is coming soon! :)
