Most people know of the term "Internet of Things" by now, or at least the intelligent gadgets such as Alexa, Google, and Siri, but did you know you could put together your own "recipes" for automation too?
IFTTT
IFTTT stands for "if this, then that" and has been around for a while, so many people are familiar with what it can do on some level.
While IFTTT is commonly used to tweet or text when something happens, or on a schedule, it can actually now integrate with pretty much anything.
Webhooks
Using the power of webhooks, and some kind of internet-ready service, you can trigger or respond to events with your own code!
The easiest way to achieve this is to just have a web URL ready to accept your data, then trigger it, say, when the weather changes, when your team scores, and so on.
In the screenshot I am using IFTTT to allow me to blog on Steemit by using Instagram!
