I left the name at the bottom of the poem. Sorry, you missed it. It is written by Warsan Shire and it happens to be one of my favorites of hers. Born in Kenya to Somalian parents, the family emigrated to Britain, but she now lives in Los Angeles in the United States. She has some brilliantly worded poetry. You can read her here.
