Over the years, a way of recording, saving and retrieving medical data has portend a great threat to the medical industry. But the medical industry, so far, has tried their best through the use of files to record and save patient data. The manual storage has a lot of disadvantages which include:

• Time consuming
  One of the disadvantages of the use of manual storage is time. The time spent at the shelf looking for a particular patient's files could save a life in case of emergency.
• Prone to damages
  The chance at which the file could get spoilt is very high. Environmental hazard either natural or artificial is a major threat to manual storage of patient's file

  Manual storage of patient's data using files makes the data available only to the clinic or hospital alone.

These among others through the technological advancement led to the invention, implementation and use of computer for recording, saving and retrieving patient's data in the medical industry.
