AIM Messenger Service Officially Turned Off

in #messenger6 years ago

Long before messenger services like Skype, WhatsApp, BBM, Line, Viber, WeChat, and Telegram emerged, in the past, there had been a favorite messenger service. For those of you who feel the beginning of the internet presence must be familiar with instant messenger services such as IRC, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, and not to forget AIM which is a classic messenger service. But as the times progress and lose in the competition, AIM’s service has now officially shut down.

Earlier, in October we reported that AIM service would be shut down on December 15, 2017, and it is true that yesterday was the last day AOL Instant Messenger service operated after more than 20 years of operation. According to the company’s announcement, “On December 15, 2017, AOL Instant Messenger products and services will be closed and will no longer work. If you are a member of AOL, AOL products and services such as AOL Mail, AOL Desktop Gold, and Member Subscriptions will not be affected. ”

Well, for AOL service users who are wondering if the company has a replacement app or service, it seems the company will not replace it with a new service because according to the company, “There are currently no replacement products available for AIM. As we move forward, we all at AOL (now Oath) are excited to continue delivering new and iconic products and experiences. “It’s quite unfortunate that this decades-old messenger service has to end in the era of digital devices, but the end of AOL is enough to go sense considering the onslaught of messenger apps on smartphones today is very intense, which makes users pampered with all the new features.
