Ahn Hee-jung, who is in the highest rank of government politician in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea said Tuesday this week that he would quit after the allegations were made from his female secretary.

Early this morning Ahn stated in his Facebook account that he will resign as a governor and to stop all his political activites – admitting to the rape and sexual assault allegations.

“it is all my fault. I seek forgiveness for my foolish act,”

Kim Ji-Eun who appeared in JTBC News program on Monday that the #Metoo movement inspired her to move forward to make this case public and also she is scared for her life that something could happen to her or her family due to coming forward with these allegations.

South Korea is not considered third world country but underneath all the lights and sky-high buildings a lot of older generation still have the ‘old mindset’ which means they don’t believe in any human rights and look down upon all the females that speak up.

Kim was accused of being raped four times through somewhat eight month period and it mostly all took place when they went to business trip together in Switzerland and Russia.

Kim came forward as the governor continued to abuse her in February, even after the #metoo movement began. She is terrified of what will happen after the TV interview.

“I thought I could just disappear any day after today. I felt like going on TV was one of the very few ways to protect myself. I hope my fellow citizens can protect me.”

She also mentioned that there was few other victims of sexual assault in Governor Ahn’s office but she is the only one coming forward.

Ahn, the heavyweight politician worked as a political aide to president Roh Moo-hyun during his presidential campaign in 2002m and Ahn was considered as his “darkhorse” for the Democratic Party. He was also considering to run for the next presidential election as the next candidate.

Ahn, who is also married stated that he did have a intercourse with Kim but his office claimed that it was consensual. But in his Facebook, the governor said his office made a wrong announcement.

The irony of it all was that on the same day Kim made her public announcement of the rape and sexual assault case against Ahn, the governor spoke about #metoo movement at a public engagement as he will endorse the campaign.
