Five Mysterious Islands dominated by animals

in #mgsc6 years ago

When we think of Island, the first thing that generally comes to our mind is to take a long leave, visit an island, relax there and enjoy the natural beauty. But you will be surprised to know that there are few islands which are totally conquered by certain animals & are deadly for humans. csm_baron_island_025_22917d644e.jpg

  1. The Rabbit Island of Japan: This small island also known as Usagi Gima is predominantly ruled by rabbits & is located at Seto Inland Sea called Ōkunoshima, two miles off the coast of the Japanese city of Takehara, in Hiroshima Prefecture. More than 1000 rabbits are living in this island & spectators are allowed to visit this island. Many believed that during the World War II, Japanese Imperial Army manufactured huge quantity of poisonous gas at this island & these rabbits were bought in this island to test the effectiveness of the poisonous gas.

  2. Red Crab Christmas Island: More than 50 millions red crabs lived in Christmas Island located in Indian Ocean. Usually in the last quarter of the calendar year, these animals travel from the island to the sea-shores to lay eggs. The inhabitants of this island take undue care to avoid any accidental death of these creatures. Even traffics are diverted & some roads are closed during peak migration season.

  3. Snake Island of Brazil: Discovered in 1964, this island may be categorized under one of the most dangerous island of the world. Situated in the coast of Brazil & Atlantic Ocean, this island is also known as Ilha da Queimada Grande Island. This deadliest island is so densely populated by snakes that one deadly snake is expected per square foot on it. Localities are banned from visiting this island by the government authority. The presence of Golden Lancehead, one of the most poisonous serpents of the world in this island just gives us an alert of the danger associated in this island.

  4. Ramree Island, Burma: Nearing the end of World War II, hundreds of soldiers died in this island due to one of the most deadly crocodile’s attack in the history. These large numbers of saltwater crocodiles weighs more than 2200 pounds & having reach of 23 feets. In 1945, the Japanese troop who survived the battle with Britishers occupied the Ramree island, but to defy the surrender call of the British army, about 1000 japanese soldiers were left with no other choice than to chose the route across the crocodile infested water. What follows is the devastating end of the entire troop.
One of the British soldiers has given these written documents “That night [of Feb. 19, 1945] was the most horrible that any member of the M.L. [motor launch] crews ever experienced. The crocodiles, alerted by the din of warfare and smell of blood, gathered among the mangroves, lying with their eyes above the water, watchfully alert for their next meal. With the ebb of the tide, the crocodiles moved in on the dead, wounded, and uninjured men who had become mired in the mud… The scattered rifle shots in the pitch black swamp punctured by the screams of the wounded men crushed in the jaws of huge reptiles, and the blurred worrying sound of spinning crocodiles made a cacophony of hell that has rarely been duplicated on Earth. At dawn the vultures arrived to clean up what the crocodiles had left.”

  5. Komodo Island, Indonesia:This island spread over an area of 390 sq km & is famous for Komodo dragon, the largest living lizards on earth. It is among the world's largest reptiles and can reach 3 meters or more in length and weigh over 70kg. Apart from the Komodo Dragon,12 terrestrial snake species are found on the island including the Cobra , Russel’s pit viper, and the green tree vipers. Lizards include 9 skink species, geckos, limbless lizards, and, of course, the monitor lizards. Frogs include the Asian Bullfrog, Oreophyne jeffersoniana and Oreophyne darewskyi. They are typically found at higher, moister altitudes.
