There is a few horrific moments that become like a daily assault on my sanity, that result from being in rural Oregon. The experience of seeing thousand year old trees being driven after being cut down by log trucks on their way to become wood chips, is like watching a cart of dead corpses of my ancestors being rolled to the glue factory. It is a feeling of betrayal, by all mankind. To know, that the worlds oxygen supply is dwindling, that pollution is rising, wafting around the corner, and the logging companies give no regard for the value of a living tree -- for the oxygen it provides for them to breathe, to do as they please, in this case, slaughter old growth, for the water the roots retain, the rain that a tree creates through seeding clouds by condensation, the habitat for animals who provide nutrients that help food grow...the wisdom of a tall tree... And when I see these log trucks taking away massive, massive trees on their way to become wood chips, which is less expensive than firewood, and they could make 300 times the money from selling a tree for fuel as opposed to as wood chips, the waste, the devastating waste created by mans greed, sense of impotence in the face of such a backbone of life, for him to cut it down and sell it for pennies because he is lazy and stupid, it makes me reflect on all we have lost and is forgotten. Ancestors, animals, and my family, all devastated for pennies, because no one can find a better way. It makes me sick to my stomach and I have to tell you that living around here is a nightmare sometimes because the painful memories of the things all places once were, and the realization that deforestation is a cut that life can never recover from. Once these forests are cut, most of the time, they never grow back. And they stood there for centuries, until a man decided to impose his will upon them. It's a sad feeling I will never find the words for, but maybe you feel it too, looking at the size of these old growth. Thanks for reading, keep on steeming! Please follow, upvote, comment, resteem. And try to save the trees, the bees, the peace.
