Looking for a few good mods! Here's your chance to apply to be a Moderator within the Minnow Support Project.

in #moderator6 years ago

The Minnow Support Project is looking to bring on board 1-2 new moderators to join the leadership team. A moderator is a key leader and authority both for the Minnow Support Project as a whole and for the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network on Discord.

Charter

The Minnow Support Project is a witness created project. The goals are to spread the values of Peace, Abundance, and Liberty, help the Steemit platform grow, and train and maintain minnows on the platform.

The full rules for governance can be found here: https://steemit.com/minnowsupportproject/@minnowsupport/minnow-support-project-updated-governance-bylaws-and-charter-approved

Jr. Mod

We're looking to bring in 1-2 moderators at a time. We'll likely add more later especially as we continue to grow. Here is what the governance doc specifically says about new mods joining.

The three tiers of Moderator are still in effect.

Jr. Moderator- The current minimum requirements to become a Jr. moderator-

-Be approached or apply at a time MSP is accepting new applications.
-t!rank suggested minimum level score in the mid 20s, which shows engagement in the PALnet community
-Have a service project- MSP is both a community and a community service project to a broader community. All moderators have to have a service project they manage (these can be MSP Services and Operations or separate).
-Write a post indicating their intent and desire to moderate with a description of their service project and promise to de-escalate conflict within PALnet and on the Block as well as pledge to live by community standards.
-Approval by consensus of the Board of Directors

What this job entails

It's hard to point to any one particular thing because there are multiple ways to be a good moderator. The main things generally are to be in line with the charter and help others grow their accounts and have be in the spirit of the mission of this place. Minimum duties include deescalating encounters that are bound to happen in the PALnet discord channel, an ability to spread the values of Peace, Abundance, and Liberty, and having something that you're really passionate about to spread the mission in your own unique way or under the wing of the folks that have been here a while.

You generally need patience, calmness, good health, good mental health, an ability to moderate conflict, to not be a source of conflict, a passion for Steemit, and a sense of purpose helping others.

What to do

If you're willing to accept these duties and embody the mission we're looking for you to join. The application process is to write a post and share a link to the post in the comments below (hopefully with a short 1-liner). Readers should feel free to chime in some support.

We'll narrow the posts down to a small handful of people and then ask people to interview at a moderator meeting, which is a 1-2 hr experience once a week. We'll then make our decision collectively and let folks know and try to provide helpful feedback for future rounds of searching for mods.

So, if you're interested, figure out what your service project would be, talk about your ability to deescalate situations and not be a source of destructive conflict, talk about how you can support the mission and the values, and be patient with us as we work through some really excellent people.

I feel almost called by name with this post... A very interesting set of requests for what and who is needed and an even more powerful intent behind it all. Thank you so very much for sharing this information to the whole community, we do need people like this badly.

I have often played this roll in the comment sections of @steemcleaners as well as many others, it is part of who I am. Though I may not be the person you are looking for, maybe I can help you find the right person.

In any case, thanks lot for the initiatives, it is well worth it for us all.

Namaste :)
