When Money Couldn't Buy Happiness

You hear it all the time that money cannot buy happiness, but it can sure do a lot, and for many people being able to pay rent and afford food is as close to happiness that you can get.

In other words, yes money can buy temporary happiness and can be used to take care of your needs or help meet the needs of others. But money won't always be able to bring a smile to your face.

Not only are people happy when spending money on themselves but they've also been found to enjoy and find happiness when spending it on others too, perhaps even more.

Can You Be Happy Without Money?

There are individuals both young and old who have been able to exude pure joy and happiness, truly enjoying their lives, despite their lack of money or possessions. Would money have made them happier? Maybe, but their happiness didn't rest upon it, we still have the ability to choose happiness regardless if we might be lacking.

And what a power to have, to know that you have a choice on which perspective to embrace, to choose whether to see what blessings there are around you and to be content with what you have.

Many wealthy individuals have felt depressed, lonely, and even taken their own lives, regardless of how much money they had. Wealth hasn't prevented people from feeling sadness and hasn't been known to instantly cure it either.

It might bring temporary comfort but that's just it.

Various individuals have shared about their own struggles with this over time, how they felt guilt for feeling miserable when they knew they had so much to be thankful for, yet they still couldn't help but feel lonely or depressed at the time. Which only goes to show that no matter how many cars you have, friends you are surrounded with, awards you have won, dollars you have in the bank, you can still feel lonely, misunderstood, and depressed . Happiness then, doesn't come from these things, or if it does it's only for a time and eventually that adoration fades and you are left with things that can't give back to you, or bring you joy as they originally once did, and surrounded by people who might not understand or care.
