Crypto mining to replace abandoned paper mills, a summary of Graphene chains and more stuff
Many of us have driven by or through old towns, that once were the center of booming economy, but now are mere shadows of their past self. In Europe, there is no need to search too hard for these town, as they come a dime a dozen.
In North America - more of the same. Towns with shrinking population are in every corner of the continent. Luckily for one town, Ocean Falls in British Columbia in Canada, their old paper mill is finding new use.
The paper mill, once the main attraction that brought thousands of people into town, has long been asleep and the town's populace has shrunk to a meager few hundred people. It's the same sob story like in many other old towns and it seems like it's inevitable death is close.
But luckily, Bitcoin miners are picking up these locations for cheap hydroelectricity and reopening old mills, dams, factories - repurposed as cryptomining farms. So was the case here too - paper mill will become a Bitcoin mill. Old towns can have a purpose again.
I can think of at least one location quickly out of the top of my head where this could be put to good use - I bet many of you know of such places. Electricity cheap? Go ahead, what are you waiting for!
