4 Basic Tips For Growing Your Personal Wealth

in #money6 years ago

Most people think becoming wealthy is complicated.

I mean how many people pay someone to manage their money for them? It almost seems as if there is a conspiracy to keep people financially illiterate.

Between a multitude of investment options, taxes, vocabulary, and just plain not educating our youth, people are scared to do much of anything with their money (besides spending it).

Sometimes just getting the basics of it all into someone's brain is a win.

Here Are My 4 Simple Financial Tips

  • If you want to have financial security, you need to have an investment portfolio.
  • You won't have money to invest unless you start saving.
  • To save you need to regularly spend less than you earn.
  • To spend less than you earn, you need to be happy with what you have.

That last bullet is the most important. It is the basis of the frugal mindset that will allow anyone to start building wealth.

But to obtain this mindset is hard. You have to go against the crowd.

When everyone is buying a fancy new car, big house, or going out to eat for what seems like every meal, it can be hard to not do the same. It's normal human nature to fit into the community and relationships around you. You don't want to feel like the outcast in your neighborhood.

Oh, and don't forget the billions of dollars spent every year on advertising.

But here is a hint about all this. Appearances are pretty much bullshit.

Whatever you see is likely a carefully crafted illusion on their part. Just like those life highlights you might see on your Facebook or Instagram feed.

What they won't show you is that they still argue with their spouse, they still get up every day to go to their shit job, and they are probably just treading water financially.

All that fancy shit they buy? Just something they bought to temporarily bring joy into a life that is destined to work until they die.

But if you can be happy with what you have, you won't run out and spend all you earn searching for happiness. You'll find it easy to save and invest for your future security.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying you have to live in some shit-hole eating oatmeal all day to min-max your investments. You can have nice stuff. I'm just saying that if you live in the desert, you probably don't need to own a goddamn boat. Be reasonable about it.

(I live in the desert and there isn't a body of water large enough for a motorboat for hundreds of miles. Yet the number of people with boats in the yards around here is too damn high!)

Life is a series of choices. The older you are the more people can tell whether or not you have made a majority of good, bad, or neutral choices. I mean if someone is 50 years old and they don't have $2 to rub together, they have made piss poor choices for many, many years.

Just like investing, your decisions will compound as times passes – for better or worse.

Sort:

From your lips to my ears man. Bloody advertisers convincing people to try to keep up with the Jones' all the time. And the access they have to our kids these days means its our job as parents to educate our kids against this societal wave pushing us away from financial security.

Show them the way by your actions

Wow, such a nice piece.

To spend less than you earn, you need to be happy with what you have.

This is the most difficult part but helpful for future financial security.. Resteemed!

Thanks for the resteem!

You're an MVP. I am happy with my life for the most part. I would like savings for emergencies and for travel. I'm not about the material things in life but to have experiences also takes money.

Make a plan for what you want in life, then work towards fulfilling that plan without giving up - ever!

Yes, ridiculous spending is ridiculous, but it's easier to grow your wealth by making more than it is spending less.

No matter how much you make, if you are not frugal then there are endless ways to spend it.

Thanks for the information sir............

Really you are geving a very good information sharing with us " thanks for this post.

Absolutely right. We can live with the little around us and maintain the happiness we get when we are in lavish lifestyles.

You certainly know that things do not bring happiness.

Good advice. It seems like the investment industry wants you to think that people can’t invest.

Yeah, they need people to latch onto like leeches.
