Israel said it had reached an agreement in principle from Greece, Cyprus and Italy on the construction of a gas pipeline 2,100 kilometers long and worth about 6 billion euros, which would connect Israel with Europe for the supply of gas to this region. The pipeline construction project was approved by EU experts a year ago. Israel’s Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz stated that countries were planning to sign an agreement by February 2019. This step will give them the opportunity within a year to resolve the issue of private financing of this project. The countries participating in the project are planning to begin gas supplies to Europe through a new gas pipeline before the end of 2025.
