When Fiat Finally Falls

in #money6 years ago

It's best to be well prepared. Because Fiat money as we know it will fall; it's not a question of "if", but "when". It's also likely that when the end finally comes, it'll come sudden.

It's like a death of an older family member; they can be getting worse for years and years, all the time people saying they expect them to leave this world soon. Everybody expects them to die, anticipates it... But still, when the end is finally there, it still rushes you like a predator out of the bush. It still shocks you and your world, and no amount of anticipation or preparation will prevent that.

The death we're anticipating here is not that of a dear family member though. We're talking about the fall of the world's reserve currency here. Individual countries have had this happen thousands of times in human history. This time it'll be "the big one", and there will be no alternative fiat currency to turn to. We want this death to happen, rather sooner than later, don't we? Will that make a difference? I don't think so, unless you are the one to deal the finishing blow to fiat's ugly head and take it down. Having said this, no disrespect is intended toward the many citizens and steemians who are feeling the pain of hyper-inflation right now.

When the end comes, it'll take most of us by surprise, even if we've been predicting it for decades. What percentage of the world's population owns silver, gold or cryptocurrencies? Or enough cigarettes to trade? And I even doubt the usefulness of gold and silver; how would that work in practice? What gave gold coins their value, their material contents or the stamp of the monarch on it? Wasn't it ultimately the trust people had in it's worth, and wasn't the seal stamped on it just a stamp of approval, garnering that trust? Is there any significance to that strange notion of "intrinsic value" when it comes to money? Crypto's are better than cigarettes, and cigarettes are better than gold if you ask me ;-)

However and whenever it comes, it will most likely be messy, one of the major growing pains we will have to endure to grow as a social species. We have to be prepared though, as much as we can. And we, my fellow steemians, are at the forefront of preparedness. Most of us already believe in the advantages of crypto-currencies that run on a decentralized and public blockchain; Ripple doesn't qualify because it's a centralized and private blockchain. Anyhow, even we that are some of the most prepared for fiat's end, will have some fiat left when the end has arrived. And many of our friends and family that didn't see the value of crypto and the illness of fiat, will have a lot of worthless metal and paper lying around...

Fear not! I've found many ways to put your leftover fiat to use, other than burning it to heat the house ;-) Here's some creative ways to earn some crypto-currency with your now worthless fiat money. I'm sure some of the crypto-whales would pay good money (real money) for some money-based artwork, as a decorative reminder of a barbaric past when we allowed ourselves to be ruled over and manipulated by a minute elite that amassed power through a corrupt fiat money system. Enjoy the death of fiat:

Oh, what to do with those stacks of leftover dollar bills? Renowned tattoo artist Scott Campbell has some ideas about that:

Leftover time in addition to leftover fiat? Use one to fill the other! ;-)

The concept of Origami is not new but the concept of Moneygami is definitely new and amazing. Some creative people have used the simple core concept and used their skills perfectly to come up with results that are extraordinary. The currency notes of different countries are folded in such a way that the resulting structure highlights the face of the leader which is there on the note. The leader's face is also given a unique garb or garb, which represents the culture of the country which uses that currency.

Haha! That's some fun art you have there. Certainly won't have enough paper money lying around to make clothes out of :P. Most of our fiat money is digital now o.O. Then what?

It's only FUD, because why would the bankers after generations of work at hoisting another Private Bank ever ruin what they have, unless they are desperate to be hunted by all of their clients? I've asked that so many times and it's always the sound of silence.

RIP silly imaginary government controlled paper money, long live magic internet money! :D

Sounds like the safest bet is a digital gold cigarettes. It’s what we humans will be trading with when we’re all imprisoned by AI in the future.
