in #monochromemonday6 years ago

Rome , Italy has always been a city i have always wanted to visit seeing it was my birth place but my parents left Italy when i was only 4 years old we all departed to the land down under Australia so wanting to go back to visit was birth country was my dream even though we did a family trip years ago again i was to young to go anywhere on my own or understand any history about my home country.

Eventually i did make it back there this time i was older and looking forward to seeing the so famous and spoken about landmarks and Ruins in Rome that are still after centuries a icon for tourist from all around the planet. As for the Colosseum which is the most recognised landmark in Rome.

I come to know that the Colosseum dates back about 2,000 years and accommodate up to 55,000 people it was the arena where all the legendary gladiator meant there battles weather it be with another legendary gladiator or against wild animals it was never a pretty sight but the Rulers and the people of Rome had to be entertained.

The Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine is one of the landmarks that mostly stands out when your entering the main area of the once Great Roman Empire.

The spectacular Basilica structure is the largest building on site and was built back in 308 AD and still has it's roof and the three magnificent arches. The Basilica building became a meeting house for the administrative council rulers.

This is the Forum of Julius Caesar he ordered it to be built in 54 BC in celebration of winning the battle against Pompey the Great. The Forum of Julius Caesar is also to the Temple of Venus Genetrix.

Amongst the remains here it was believed that the great beautiful Trajan’s Market was here which was the main shopping center and trade center.

There was certainly a lot to see and learn about the history of my home country but this time i did leave more content seeing and learning more about the actual famous landmarks.

So much history that could of changed the world to what it is today if the dream of Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar had not failed by trying to unite Europe, the Middle East and the Mediterranean into a one community.
