Monomad - Monday (Macro) - Springtime buds

in #monomad6 years ago (edited)

I'm pretty sure I'm about one hour late for the #Monomad deadline--I got caught up in the macro world of my backyard after getting home from a weekend trip and hadn't realized the deadline would be early afternoon in my local timezone.

I'm close enough, so I thought I'd post the photos anyway and a couple extras for the heck of it. IF this is still considered a valid entry for Monday's Monomad, I'll consider this first image my official entry.

Springtime in Alaska is pretty ugly. Everything is filthy and the landscape is painted with a palette of brown and gray. But tiny green bulbs of budding leaves are starting to appear on the branches, and that makes the change in season finally feel official.

Next time I'll have to remember the huge difference in timezones and take the photos for each subject the day before so I can post them in the morning.

Very nice set here! Super macro! You should note what camera device you're using.

Unless you're using a smartphone like me , in which case it's embarrassing and not worth mentioning.

You get very good results though! I'm often impressed at what you achieve in photography with a smartphone.
I thought about mentioning photo-data... I'll edit it in.

@aksounder,

Beautiful photos. All the more striking in monochrome ... although, after a long winter, I suspect you probably have a preference for the colorized version. I'm from Canada (so I understand) ... I live in Florida (don't hate me). :-)

Thanks for the comment quill! The color versions are vivid, but the monochrome really brings focus to the textures. I found the little spindly, finger-like edges of the newly forming leaves very strange.

@aksounder,

They're all really good but, for some reason, the fourth one (Pussywillow?) really draws my eye. The detail of the fibers is incredible. I'm going to spend more time looking through photo blogs. There's some really good work.

Great job. A masterful execution.

It does look like a pussywillow, but it's actually a young tree in my yard that's about 6 feet tall. Not sure exactly what kind it is, but it was difficult to get that whole furry bud in the narrow focal plane.

I'm going to pay extra attention to that tree now and see how it develops leaves compared to the others.
