View of the Limmatquai and the Limmat ... a river in Switzerland.
The name of the river Limmat comes from Zurich, where it leaves Lake Zurich ... The river's origin is in the canton of Glarus in the Tödi massif named Linth.
The Limmatquai leads from Lake Zurich Bellevueplatz down to the Central Zurich main station. On the Limmatquai are the Grossmünster, the Wasserkirche, many guild houses and the Zurich town hall.
The southern part of the Limmatquai used to be called from Bellevueplatz to Grossmünster "Sonnenquai"
In 2004, the Limmatquai was traffic calmed and rebuilt to 2006 to a strolling zone. The lanes remained as a reserve for emergencies exist. The tram still drives this zone.
