The Humble Giants..

Yep, here we go again...

A couple of shots captured few months ago in the south of Portugal.

This first image is the typical example of our southern landscape, wavy fields populated with cork trees.

The numbers on the trees tell us the year when the cork was removed for the last time and also when it will be removed again, since every sustainable crop takes around 10 years to be produced.

Harvesting it before will harm the tree.

Unfortunately these humble giants are being attacked by a ,so far, unknown disease and dying, making me wonder for how many more decades will they be around.
