must have been a great view.
It was so much better in real life and the final image is not a million miles from what I was after. I just wanted the steamer to be a bit more in focus but hey ho. It's all good.

It's a lovely scene, I can absolutely appreciate what you were going for. Sometimes you just need that long lens to get closer to the scene as you see it in your mind... I think your best image is the third one in the post. Something in the processing is causing the halo around the branches in your first and second images.
Nice composition in the final cropped image. I think, however, I prefer the blue tinted version. :D
