I am not much of a people shooter, so no, I didn't use it for portraits. I prefer nature related subjects.
But my brother in law did. This is actually his lens, I just borrowed it.

It's a magic lens, but a bit expensive (if you're aiming to get one in good conditions).

It's the Russian version. Exact the same optic formula as they "borrowed" the Zeiss plans after WW2.
