Why do we light a lamp

Indian culture has a vast and rich religious practices and my granny stands top among all at my home.

Spending happy time with my family after 3 long years😊

Coming back to the question Why do we light lapms

Because in Indian culture we believe light is a symbol of knowledge
The absence of light is ignorance. This is bind beautifully with our day to day life. Sun the ultimate source of light and God of all energies, is himself worshiped as God of Knowledge.

Ok, so the next question would be Why lamp and why not a tube light even tube light also removes darkness

The answer to the question of using traditional oil and wick to light lamp has a spiritual significance of it's own. The oil we use in lap signify as our negative tendencies and the wick we use is our ego. We burn our ego with our negative tendencies and light the knowledge.
